Ibex Quite Mundane To Install

Filed under: 64bit, EeePC, Funny, Gnome, GNU/Linux, Humor, Humour, KDE, Kubuntu, Linux, Ubuntu, Ubuntu 64bit — Normand Bissonnette @ 5:52 pm

I have installed Ubuntu 8.10 code name Intrepid Ibex on three computers. I upgraded two computers from Ubuntu 8.04. I installed Kubuntu 8.10 on a computer. No major situations to report. It has become very mundane to install Ubuntu or even upgrade. There is no reason for the regular Joe not to install Ubuntu on their “Windows” computer. Come on haven’t you heard we are living in a new era first Barack Obama was elected president of the United States, now switch to Ubuntu!

I have two computers that I still have not did the upgrade; the eeePC, I’ll do it when I can spare time. The other I will not upgrade until the gpac package is fixed. I use this computer to remux HD movies so that my Xbox 360 can play them and with mp4box that is included in the gpac package available with Ibex I cannot remux the HD movies 😦

I almost forgot to mention that I have installed the 64 bit version of Ibex on most of the computers. 32 bit computing is so twentieth century 🙂

On an other note here is a great Matrix/Windows parody, I know that most of you must have seen it, this is for those who haven’t, enjoy.

Second Seinfeld Microsoft Ad

Filed under: Funny, Gates, Humor, Humour, Linux, Seinfeld, Television, Ubuntu, Vista, Windows — Normand Bissonnette @ 3:03 pm

Here is the second Microsoft commercial featuring Seinfeld and Gates:

So is it trying to sell me Vista or teach me how to live off of strangers?  I am not sure.  I laughed, I cried, I installed Ubuntu on another computer.  I guess the commercial is not working.  Well maybe it is, because I promote Linux (especially Ubuntu) to everybody that dares to talk with me about computers and right now I am writing about Microsoft.  The commercial must have something subliminal in it.

p.s. I actually laughed watching this commercial because of the absurdity of the situation.

p.p.s I wonder if what they are using on the sons computer, that Bill says will never come out, is a Linux Operating System that he does not want to compete against or us to use?

Have You Seen The New Microsoft Ad?

Filed under: Funny, Humor, Humour, Seinfeld, Ubuntu, Windows — Normand Bissonnette @ 4:31 pm

What do you think of Seinfeld & Gates commercial for shoes, or is it for Microsoft?  I’m not sure after seeing it.  I find it hilarious but will it convince people to switch to Vista?  I don’t think so.

Maybe Canonical should hire Micheal Richards to plug Ubuntu…  Maybe not.

Windows XP on Noisy Computer

Filed under: Funny, Humor, Humour, Windows XP — Normand Bissonnette @ 12:40 am

computerI am a glutton for punishment!  A co-worker asked me to clean up her computer and do what it is needed to make it go fast.  When I had time to do some work on it I turned it on.  Holy cow!  THE NOISE coming from the fan was unbelievable.  I have a computer that I found noisy but after hearing this computer my “noisy” computer can be considered whisper quiet.  I installed Windows XP on “Noisy” and the usual anti-virus and anti adware/spyware.  I set up a few accounts because this computer will be used as a family computer.  I set up Internet Explorer so that the younger members of the family could not access “adult” sites.  I had this computer going for about four hours and had a splitting headache.  This computer was producing so much heat I had to open a few windows to cool the apartment down.

Tomorrow I have to finish installing applications on this computer.  I hope it does not take too long because I can’t stand the noise coming from this computer.  I can’t even use my iPod because the noise drowns it out.  My neighbors have not complained yet but I am sure that they will if I don’t finish doing all the work as soon as possible.

p.s. I believe the computer was making a lot of noise because it wanted me to install Ubuntu or any other Linux operating system.
